Internship Opportunities at AG Bell

AG Bell currently offers internship opportunities for undergraduate students, recent college graduates or graduate students to serve at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. Interns contribute to our work as an international non-profit ensuring that people around the world with hearing loss can hear and talk. Interns gain hands-on experience in various program areas, including marketing and communications, development, chapter relations, and events, and participate as team members in activities and projects that advance our mission.

In addition to the opportunity to expand skills and work experience, both remote and on-site interns benefit from learning sessions in nonprofit management, philanthropy, goal-setting and public speaking. On-site interns are based in Washington, D.C. at the Volta Bureau in the beautiful neighborhood of Georgetown, close to universities and important national sites. Internships are available each summer, usually from the second week of June through mid-August. Interns must secure their own housing for the summer and may receive a stipend for living expenses. Preference is given to students who use Listening and Spoken Language, particularly those who have graduated from AG Bell’s Leadership Opportunities for Teens program.

The internship application is posted in February and offers are extended in April each year. For more information, please contact Trenita Dickey at tdickey@agbell.org or 202-204-4685.

Meet some of our Interns:

Kyle Joseph

Communications Intern

“As a deaf individual myself with bilateral cochlear implants, I’ve come to realize just how much of an impact this organization has had on my life, so the chance to give back by working alongside all the incredible people running it has been a welcome opportunity. The skills and knowledge I’ve learned here will be a huge help going forward, and I definitely hope to continue having a professional relationship with this wonderful organization and its people.”

Juliet Remi

Development Intern

“My internship showed me the substantial time, energy, and resources that function at the heart of nonprofit and philanthropic work. Each member of the AG Bell staff is dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission of connecting individuals with hearing loss, and giving deaf and hard of hearing people opportunities to learn to hear and speak. I am truly grateful to have learned from and contributed to such a transformative organization. Moving forward, I hope to use the knowledge and skills I gained at AG Bell to have a greater impact on my campus and in my community.”

Our Mission

Working globally to ensure that people who are deaf and hard of hearing can hear and talk.

We want all families to be informed and supported, professionals to be appropriately qualified to teach and help children with hearing loss, public policy leaders to effectively address the needs of people with hearing loss, and communities to be empowered to help their neighbors with hearing loss succeed.
