Summer Harrison is a mother of four children, two of which are bilateral cochlear implant recipients. Summer graduated with a degree in Deaf Education in 2007 and gained her sign language interpreter certification in 2009. She worked in a Regional Day School Program for the Deaf where she taught 3rd-6th grade before becoming a parent infant advisor, serving the birth-3 population. She has volunteered with numerous parent support groups and advocacy programs. After her son was diagnosed with hearing loss, she made the decision to stay home and take care of her children, allowing her to focus more on his listening and spoken language needs. She lives in Oklahoma with her husband, four children, and multiple animals. Her children are mainstreamed in their local school district and thriving.
