The AG Bell Academy announces several changes to the requirements related to the certification process for candidates who wish to pursue Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) certification. The Academy Board, its member committees, and a selected mentoring task force evaluated, discussed, and recommended changes that were voted on by the Board. Changes were made to the requirements and documents. All changes are found in July 2017 versions of the following documents on the Academy website:
The most significant changes occur in the following areas:
- Administrator/Supervisor Certification Route
- Continuing Education Hours
- Taking the LSL Exam More than Once
- Alignment of the LSLS Cert. AVT and LSLS Cert. AVEd Applications
- The Mentoring Component
Summary of all changes
For LSLS Certified Mentors: The Academy will host a question and answer video call (via Zoom) on September 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. EST. Gayla Guignard will email the call link one day prior to the video call. CART will be provided.

For Mentees: The Academy will host a question and answer video call (via Zoom) on September 14, 2017 at 6 p.m. EST for mentees and individuals who are considering beginning the LSLS certification process in the near future. Gayla Guignard will email the call link one day prior to the video call. CART will be provided.

Each call will be recorded to view on-demand and emailed to you if you are not able to make the call. Only those who register and do not attend will be sent the recorded call.
