What If You Were Born Deaf? Video Winners

AG Bell asked our community to tell us about what it is to be born deaf - and you did!

AG Bell received wonderful video submissions from families, children, teens, adults and listening and spoken language professionals, which showed us that deaf people can not only listen and talk, but reach for the stars and achieve their dreams.

As part of the call for videos, AG Bell selected the following five submissions to each receive a $200 gift card.

We invite readers to view their stories on our YouTube channel! AG Bell thanks everyone who submitted a video to help tell the story of listening and spoken language. Don't worry if you didn't have an opportunity yet to submit your video; we would still like to hear your story and we will continue highlighting these videos on the website and in other media. Help us show the world that with listening and spoken language, you can do anything!

It Is the Season for Giving

The magic of the holidays is evident everywhere and in everyone. Earlier this month, Emilio Alonso-Mendoza visited New York and northern New Jersey with AG Bell Chapter Advisor Sue Schmidberger. They visited the Godwin School of the Bergen County Special Services School District, Clarke Schools New York and The Children's Hearing Institute. These organizations fully embody the mission of AG Bell to advance listening and spoken language and allow children with hearing loss to thrive in their communities. AG Bell's mission is not only to bring spoken language to deaf and hard of hearing children, but to ensure that they can learn to hear all that the world can offer. As the year ends let's remember that this isn't just the season for spending time with your loved ones, it is also the season of giving.
