Hearing Access Signage

For those of you who travel, please keep an eye out for hearing access signage. This could be designated by the “oc” or “cc” or “rwc” letters for captioned or an assistive listening device symbol such as the ear with the dots, induction loop symbol (ear with “T”) or other symbols that communicate that hearing assistance is available.

Accessible Venues


The following cultural institutions offer services to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Please note, this list does not by any means indicate that other institutions do not offer services. For other institutions, it is best to call or email first in order to verify services.

Please note that PHOTO ID is needed when headsets or neck loops are borrowed.

New York City


American Girl Place
The theater is equipped with an infrared sound system. Headsets and neck loops are available at the entrance of the theater. Signed performances are available upon request with two weeks notice.

American Museum of Natural History
Headsets and neck loops are available in the following locations:
 

        1) LeFrak Imax Theater
        2) Kaufman and Linder Theaters
        3) The Hayden Planetarium Space Theater

Broadway Shows
Most Broadway and some off-Broadway shows are equipped with either an FM or an infrared sound system. Headsets and neck loops are available. They are available at kiosks in the theater but may be reserved with 48 hours notice by calling Sound Associates at 212-582-7678.

Lincoln Theater

The guides are free to visitors with visual or hearing impairments. Printed transcripts in both regular and large print are also available. These are available in the main hall on the left hand side of the entrance and at various points throughout the museum lectures.
