The AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language would like to thank those who participated in the LSLS survey that was distributed on April 20. This survey is to gather information on the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS®) certified community that will help AG Bell and the AG Bell Academy best serve your professional needs. If you currently hold the LSLS certification and have not yet participated in the survey, please take a moment to provide us with your feedback at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2015LSLS by May 8, 2015. This information is vital to the AG Bell Academy and board of directors as they move forward to set the course for the organization.

2015 LSLS Exam
The AG Bell Academy will hold its first LSLS exam of 2015 in Baltimore, MD on July 12, 2015. Applications for this exam administration should be received by the Academy by May 7. The AG Bell Academy will notify professionals seeking certification of their eligibility to take the LSLS exam no later than 30 days prior to the examination date.

To retake the LSLS examination, please submit this completed form to the Academy at least 14 days prior to the published examination date.

New Position Statement on LSLS Designation
The AG Bell Academy is pleased to announce the release of a brand new position statement clarifying the two designations available under the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist certification: "The Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Certification: Designation."

The position statement serves to raise greater awareness of the LSLS certification among the general public and those in the field, and it serves to clarify and eliminate confusion about the two designations. The document sets forth the position of the AG Bell Academy.

May Is Better Hearing and Speech Month!
May is here and it's Better Hearing and Speech Month (BHSM)! This is a time for our field to raise awareness about hearing loss, listening and spoken language, and the valuable services that Listening and Spoken Language Specialists provide. AG Bell has adopted the theme of “Early Intervention Counts,” which was developed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

2015 AG Bell Symposium Continuing Education
The 2015 AG Bell Listening and Spoken Language Symposium has been approved by the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) to offer up to 1.65 approved continuing education units (CEUs). The Symposium has also been pre-approved by the AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language to offer up to 16.5 CEUs to attendees who have the LSLS® certification or those seeking the credential.

CEU approval is pending for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Please continue to check the AG Bell website here for more information on CEU approval and updates concerning the Symposium!

LSLS Observation and Feedback Workshop at AG Bell Symposium 
Join LSLS luminaries for a unique learning opportunity on Thursday, July 9, 1:30-5:00 p.m. in a special LSLS Observation and Feedback Workshop and receive structured feedback that can be used to fulfill your LSLS certification requirements! Professionals interested in the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS®) certification will earn valuable observation sessions towards their LSLS certification requirements. LSLS mentors or those considering mentoring are encouraged to attend to learn effective techniques to structure feedback sessions with mentees from seasoned LSLS mentors.
